Choosing the Right Class

One Yoga encourages a balanced approach to yoga, embracing a variety of styles, methods and teachers.  From Gentle and Restorative to Ashtanga Vinyasa, our schedule offers a wide variety of classes to meet you where you are and guide you to where you want to be.

Our teachers work with you wherever you’re at in your ability and experience, providing modifications for asanas (poses) as needed and helping you to listen to and trust the wisdom of your own body.

Classes often begin with meditation, relaxation, and/or pranayama (breathwork) followed by a flowing series of asanas (poses) that range from gentle to vigorous.  Conscious breathing, which creates a steady, energized presence, is coordinated with the various practices.  All classes end with savasana (corpse pose) so that you may fully integrate the benefits of your practice.

Yoga Etiquette

The practice of yoga is not only a gift of healing for yourself, but a way to develop community and to support others.  Being mindful of the impact your choices have on those around you is a beautiful way to care for your fellow yogis.  The following guidelines will support an environment that inspires tranquility and wellness:

Be on time.  Arriving at least 10 minutes before class will allow you enough time to get settled.  It shows respect for your teacher and your fellow students.

Remove your shoes immediately upon entering the building.

No cellphone use in the building.  Please ensure you phones are turned all the way off before entering.

Inform your instructor if you are injured or pregnant.

Be respectful of those who are practicing and keep conversation at a low volume.  Conversation within the studio should be kept to a minimum.

Avoid using perfumes and other products with fragrance.

Please take steps to ensure that your body and clothing are odor-free.

Bringing your own mat is encouraged for hygienic and energetic reasons; however, we do offer mats free for your use.  If you use a One Yoga mat, please clean it thoroughly after class.

Don’t skip savasana.  It is an important part of your practice.  If you must leave early, let the teacher know before class and they will cue you to start savasana early.

Breathe.
