“I appreciate the great work that can be done by community outreach programs so that everyone can benefit from Yoga.”
Bianca’s first steps on the path of yoga began at the age of 16 when she decided to become a vegetarian and start a stretching program. For a long time that was all it was, a physical approach to feel good and do something for animals. At 23, she found her way to a Hatha Yoga class. Since then, the path of Yoga has continued to unfold. During her two year training to become a yoga teacher in the Sivananda Yoga tradition, Bianca realized the deeper levels of yoga. The yogic concept of ahimsa or “love embracing all creation” became a prominent part of her yoga practice as well as daily life. As a teacher, Bianca loves to watch not only the physical progress of students, but the subtle changes of the mind/soul/body connection, sparking a deep interest in savoring the simple life.
Her teachings reflect her own experiences with Yoga, and are based on classical Yoga scriptures, as well as insights and inspiration gained from writings of John O’Donoghue, Paulo Coelho, and Thich Nath Hanh.
While she found her “home base” in the Sivananda Yoga tradition, she also embraces the richness of the Iyengar tradition with Wiliam Prottengeier as her main teacher, and enjoys frequent visits into the life-celebrating spirit of Anusara Yoga. Her practice and teaching is dedicated to peace and well-being for all creatures – great or small.
