Shira Charis

Shira began her study of yoga in her living room with Rodney Yee on VHS. Learning to spread her toes and connect breath with movement somehow showed her how to live and relate better with others. Five years of intense Bikram Yoga practice taught her strength of will and calm acceptance of her limitations. In Ashtanga Yoga, she learned fluidity and grace and personal spiritual strength. With Vinyasa Yoga, she has developed an intuitive home practice and a more tangible reading of the subtle body. Laughter Yoga brings out a direct path to feeling better emotionally and being open to meaningful relationships.

Shira’s teaching shows reverence for the classical yoga of Patanjali and inspiration from the expressions of modern western yoga.  Honoring tradition and embracing current inspiration, she encourages others to explore their unique path to self-realization. With her mesmerizing voice and intuitive adjustments, Shira creates an overall experience of letting go of the stresses of everyday life and creating an environment in which to grow.

Shira has completed teacher trainings with Bikram Choudhury and David Swenson, workshopped with Max Strom, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Ana Forrest, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea and been influenced by many others. She has been teaching yoga since 2003 and lives in Minneapolis with her husband, Pablo, where she continues to practice a variety of styles of yoga.
