Yoga and Social Justice: Letting Our Practice Inform Difficult Conversations
As we approach the holiday season, many of us expect to engage with family and friends with differing viewpoints from our own. How can we let our practice guide us as we participate in difficult conversations? Remaining present in these moments allows us to be skillful even in the face of great tension and discomfort. In this workshop we will explore mindfulness tools, as well as specific strategies for engaging in difficult conversations from a place of non-judgement and compassion. The workshop will begin with a yoga and meditation practice.
One Yoga is dedicated to examining, understanding, and dismantling the social and cultural forces that reinforce racial privilege and oppression in our community. We see this work—showing up to skillfully respond to suffering as it manifests in our day-to-day lives—as an important part of our yoga practice.
