Be engulfed in an expansive environment of sound intended to realign your vibrational energy centers. Sound healing is an ancient concept, also known as sound meditation or sound bathing. Sound healing can reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, create a deep sense of wellbeing, and promote healing that goes well beyond simple relaxation.

This is an opportunity to understand some foundational information about attending a "Mysore" style Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga class, and how this method adapts to create a personal yoga practice within a template for guiding practice. We will focus on aspects specific to this method through dialogue and discussion, and will go through the first asana task within the first series (suranamakra A + B). Supplemental documents will be provided to address the opening and closing chants, as well as the full first ("primary") series.
Sunday, February 18:

My Brothers Heal is an intro to yoga exclusively for Black men. The pressures of being a Black man in America come from all directions. Though yoga is an excellent practice of self-care, stress reduction and mental health for everyone, there are very few spaces where Black men can practice among their peers. This class is a celebration of being Black, powerful, and healthy. Learn to better love the way you are and where you aim to go.

During this workshop you will learn a simple yet powerful Pranayam called Nadi Shuddhi, Nada Yoga (mantra) followed by Guided Meditation. “Prana” means “the vital energy” and “yama” means to gain control over that. So, it is a subtle process through which one can gain control over their inner energies. “Nada” means sound. Today, modern science sees the whole existence as a vibration. Where there is vibration, there is bound to be a sound. So in yoga, we say the whole existence is just a sound. A Mantra is a mathematically organized sound pattern that has deep impact in the system.

Our book club, Seeds of Justice, is designed to be a safe and inclusive space for exploring themes related to racial and social justice through the lens of yoga and mindfulness practices. Our intention is to foster meaningful conversations, inspire self-reflection, and collectively move toward a more just and compassionate world that is not for justice but rooted in justice. This offering will be held monthly on the 4th Monday of every month at 7:30pm. We'll be discussing "The Inner Work of Racial Justice" by Rhonda V. Magee.
