Instructor Spotlight: Amy Patee

This month we are checking in with Amy Patee!

"Greetings One Yoga Friends! As I write to you today, I am thinking back to well over a year ago when I taught my last live class at the studio. From a global pandemic to Minneapolis being the spotlight city for racial injustice… what a journey this past year has been.

When I see familiar faces over Zoom for my Saturday class it often seems as if we’ve all “adjusted” quite well to these crazy and uncertain times. And while this may be true to some extent (us humans have a miraculous way of “surviving”), I also know there is a depth of pain that simply can’t be expressed across the digital superhighway.

So, I want to say to you today—I miss you. I hope this past year has brought you many fruits despite the circumstances. I can’t wait to see you in person again... to see who you are now. And most importantly, I want to say, I honor the pain inside of you. The quiet pain. The pain that maybe not many people see. The pain that you may be pushing aside as things begin to open and flow again. The pain that may be right here inside of you, because, dang, so much has been lost this past year.

I have been feeling my pain as best I can, and then indulging in the spring vibes here in Minnesota as much as I can too. Our pain, individual and collective, must be honored, must be felt, but so too our joy.

I am looking forward to a time in the not-too-distant future where we may gather in Joy together again. Until then, join me on Saturday mornings at 11am to move, breathe, and feel.

Sending you a big virtual hug! (Can you feel it?)" - Amy
